Winter Swimming at Pool Bridge Farm
Pool Bridge Farm is home to four stunning, peaceful and totally unique wild-swimming lakes — all tucked away in nature, yet somehow only 10 minutes from York city centre. It’s the perfect place to slow down, breathe out, connect with the outdoors and escape the everyday chaos (even if it’s just for an hour).
During winter, all lakes are adults-only. Don’t worry — the little ones can return in spring when the water warms up and everyone’s toes feel a bit less numb-and-regretful.
Monet Lake is our calm, narrow stretch of water close to the main changing barn, ideal if you like to stay within easy reach of the edge.
The M Lake is home to our five cosy, wood-fired saunas, which you can pre-book for the full “treat-yourself” experience.
Horseshoe Lake offers a beautiful 300-metre loop for those who love a gentle circuit swim.
And Q Lake, our newest and largest, welcomes families throughout the warmer months — and becomes the go-to spot in winter for swimmers looking to push themselves a little further.

A few things to note this winter:
To help us manage numbers (and keep the car park from turning into a game of vehicular Tetris), all tickets must be purchased online before you arrive. If you can’t see any available, it means we’re sold out—though honestly, that’s rare once the temperatures drop and the water gets… invigorating.
We love dogs, but only registered guide dogs are allowed on site.
For the safety and privacy of our swimmers, we kindly ask that you don’t pop by just to “have a look around”. If you’re accompanying a solo swimmer for safety, you can buy a Spotter’s Ticket instead.
No under-18s over winter, with one exception: 16+ can use the sauna and dip when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
New to cold-water swimming? Amazing — but please do a bit of research before you come and make sure you bring appropriate clothing and equipment. Winter swimming is magical, but it definitely rewards the well-prepared.
