Sauna Experience - Contrast Therapy
Welcome to Sauna Corner. If you’re ready to relax in a stunning space, surrounded by nature and idyllic views, you’re in the right place.
Prepare to immerse yourself in a 55-minute self-led contrast therapy session, alternating between the soothing heat of our wood-fired saunas and the refreshing chill of the lake. With five saunas situated on our picturesque M Lake, there’s plenty of space to relax and enjoy the experience at your own pace.
During your session, we recommend spending around 10 minutes in the sauna at a time—don’t forget to add a scoop or two of water to the coals every 10-15 minutes and let the gentle scents of our Holistic Kitchen Oils fill the space, enhancing the restorative experience. Alternate between the sauna and the lake when it feels right for you, and discover the many physical and mental benefits of contrast therapy.
Sauna sessions can be booked as an individual ticket in a group sauna or as a private booking for your own group. Tranquil sauna sessions and female-only sessions are also available. Please note that the experience is suitable for those aged 16 and above, and anyone aged 16-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All changing takes place in our designated male, female, and unisex communal changing areas, located conveniently by the saunas.
Whilst our friendly and knowledgeable team will be on hand to help your session run smoothly, please remember that the lakes are not lifeguarded, so swimming is always at your own risk. For further information on safety measures, please see our safety page.
Each sauna has its own unique quirks and characteristics. Scroll down to find your favourite.
Blue Yonder Sauna
If you like a 180-degree view and a choice of heat levels, the Blue Yonder Sauna is the one for you. Our newest addition features two-tier seating and a large panoramic window overlooking M Lake. Crafted by the Yorkshire Hut Company, it’s designed so that those who love a more intense sauna can take the top tier, whilst those preferring a gentler heat can relax on the lower level, all while enjoying an uninterrupted view of the lake.
This spacious sauna can be booked privately for up to 10 people, but for individual bookings, there is a maximum of 8 guests so there is plenty of room for a calm, relaxing experience. When full, guests will be seated across both tiers to make the most of the space and the view. Please take your towel with you when you go for a swim, to enable guests to swap places if they wish to do so.
Sky View SAUNA
If you’re a cloud-watcher or star-gazer, why not consider Sky View? This sauna has been crafted to our specific design by our fabulous friends at the Yorkshire Hut Company. It’s our only sauna with glass roof panels, allowing you to watch the clouds drift by during the day or stargaze during an evening booking, making it the perfect option for a moon swim. A large window and high ceilings make this sauna bright, airy, and wonderfully spacious.
Due to the way the air circulates, the heat in Sky View feels more intense than in Blue Yonder or Lakeview. Sitting further from the coals is cooler, and opening the internal door briefly can help disperse the intensity—just be sure to check with fellow sauna-goers first. Alternating dips in the lake throughout your session also helps regulate the heat and enhances your contrast therapy experience. If you prefer not to fully immerse yourself, we recommend gently patting some cold water onto the top half of your body to prevent overheating.
Sky View can be booked privately for up to 10 people, while individual bookings are capped at 8 guests to maintain its roomy and relaxed atmosphere.
Willow Tree Sauna
Are you a nature-lover? Then you might like the Willow Tree Sauna, which is tucked away in a corner of M Lake beside a graceful willow tree—making it a truly special spot. Seating up to 8 guests, it features a spacious decking area and steps that lead directly into the lake, as well as a large vestibule for robes and valuables (but please leave bags and other belongings in the changing rooms or lockers provided).
Watching the local wildlife go about its day from the large window adds an extra touch of tranquility to your sauna experience. Keep an eye out for water voles, toads and our resident moor hens, who all favour this corner of M Lake as a place to hang out. The heat in Willow Tree can feel quite intense, making it popular choice with those who like it hot. Both individual and private bookings are available.
Shepherd’s Hut Sauna
Perhaps you’d like to be a part of Pool Bridge farm history. The Shepherd’s Hut is the original Pool Bridge Farm sauna, with a fascinating history dating back to around 1917. It arrived at the farm 30 years ago and was lovingly restored to its current sauna glory by Mike - and we have its success to thank for the Sauna Corner we all know and love today.
The smallest and quirkiest of our saunas, with a glass door that provides a charming view across the lake, it seats up to 6 guests, making it a favourite for those who enjoy an intimate, peaceful experience. Recently refurbished but still very much beloved of long-time swimmers, Shepherd’s Hut is as beautiful as it is cosy—a perfect spot to unwind and soak up the atmosphere of M Lake.
Lake View Sauna
If you like a gentle sauna experience whilst immersed in nature, this is the sauna for you. The Lake View Sauna journeyed all the way from Estonia and offers panoramic views through a large glass window overlooking M Lake. This sauna is a perfect spot to watch the world go by - you might even be lucky enough to spot PBF’s famous kingfishers flitting past the window. In Lake View, the stove is positioned near the door, which means the coolest spot is by the window for those who prefer a less intense sauna experience.
When steam is added to the coals in this sauna, the window may fog up for a moment, but it quickly clears to reveal the stunning view once again. Its low ceilings create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, yet it comfortably seats up to 8 guests (or 10 for a private booking).
Things to note:
When you arrive, please head to our little reception hut in the yard to check in. Listen carefully to the briefing from our team to ensure you get the most from your sauna experience. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
Be sure to bring water to drink and a towel to sit on during your sauna session. Staying hydrated is crucial even in winter months as dehydration reduces blood circulation and accelerates heat loss during cold therapy. It’s also essential to bring a second towel so you can dry off afterwards. Don’t worry if you forget - you can rent or purchase one from us. Please notify us if you have any allergies to essential oils.
Please use the changing rooms to get changed and leave your bags under the benches or in the lockers provided. Bring a padlock or purchase one from reception. Please wait by the ‘wait here’ sign outside the changing rooms until five minutes before your sauna to ensure everyone enjoys a tranquil experience.
Sauna availability and bookings can be viewed and made via the “Online Bookings” tab. Please note that all sauna sessions must be pre-booked online.
From May to the end of September, your sauna booking includes 30 minutes of swimming and lakeside access to our other three lakes before and after your session. If you’d like all-day lake access, simply book a lakeside add-on, which enables you to stay from 8am–8pm. Between October and the end of April, all sauna tickets automatically include full-day lake access.
Whilst our friendly and informative staff are first-aid trained and on hand to help, please remember that Pool Bridge Farm is not a lifeguarded venue. We want you to enjoy wild swimming freely in clean water with no dangerous currents or traps - but swimming is at your own risk.
You can privately book more than one sauna at the same time, but we cannot change the timetable, so the timings available are only those shown on the booking page. If you have more than one sauna fully booked for your group, you can swim between saunas during your session. However, the maximum capacity for each individual sauna must not be breached at any time.

If you are making a large booking for more than one sauna, use this map to help you understand the layout. If you are visiting us for the first time, our team will be on hand to point you in the right direction.
