Lakes and Lakeside Rules
By purchasing a ticket you understand and agree to all of the following (Updated November 2024):
The use of the lakes and lakeside is done so entirely at your own risk. Please carry out your own research and decide what is safe for you and your family before using the facilities.
All lakeside visitors, including those who are not swimming, must PURCHASE A TICKET before heading to the lakeside and have it available at all times if inspection is requested, For the comfort & privacy of those using the lakes, we do not allow anyone to ‘have a look around’.
Any person who is an inexperienced cold water swimmer, should not attend alone and must complete their own research on safe swimming practices before swimming in the Lakes.
Children are not permitted to enter the water during the winter season which ends March 31st with the exception of 16/17 yr olds who may dip during a supervised sauna session.
The Sauna is strictly for 16 years and above. Those aged 16/17 must be accompanied by an adult.
All swimmers must be able to swim 50m unaided, if you are not able to do so a lifejacket (provided by yourself) must be worn at all times in the water. Non-swimmers must be able to swim 50m in a lifejacket and closely supervised.
Anyone under 18 years old must be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times this includes those on the lakeside and in the capacity of spotter and 16/17-year-olds in the sauna sessions.
ICE: When the lakes are Iced over you MUST only enter the water where the Ice is at designated points in Monet and M lake and Horseshoe. Q lake MUST NOT be used when there is ice on the lakes. No attempt must be made to: go under the water, sit on the ice, hold the ice with bare hands, hold the ice above your head OR break the ice without the team’s permission.
No dogs onsite.
No Drones are to be flown from the site.
Please be respectful to ALL animals and fellow swimmers and do not damage any flora or fauna.
No BBQs or Fires around the lakes. The Fire pits are to be lit and managed by the PBF team during events only.
No diving or jumping into the water during the winter season.
Monet Lake is our tranquil lake, this does not mean silence but if you are a large or noisier group of adults please move to M-lake or Horseshoe.
No music at all around the lakes, not even if it is very quiet
No alcohol is to be taken to or consumed by the lakes and you agree that your bag may be searched upon entry to the premises.
No Smoking around the lakes.
Please put all litter in the bins provided or even better take it home.
Please use designated entry/exit points only.
In the event of thunder and lightning, you must follow the 30-30 rule. This is when you start counting to 30 when you see a flash of lightning. if you hear thunder on or before 30 seconds then the storm is close enough for a lightning strike and therefore deemed too dangerous to be swimming in the water. You should then wait 30 mins after the last visible lightning strike to ensure the storm has fully cleared.

All tickets are non-refundable and dates and/or times cannot be changed once booked. Tickets, except moon Swims and other events, can be transferred to others should you not be able to attend in person.
If Making a group booking you are agreeing to the rules and terms and conditions on behalf of your group and therefore must share these with them.
If found to be contravening any of the above, you will be asked to leave immediately without recompense.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. DEFINITIONS and interpretation
The following definitions apply:
Bank Ticket: a person who accesses the grounds around the Lakes but does not enter the Lakes.
Child means any person under the age of 18 years who is accompanying the Customer to the Lakes.
Company or us means Pool Bridge Farm Ltd incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 08061832 whose registered office is at Pool Bridge Farm, Wheldrake Lane, Crockey Hill, York, YO19 4SQ or any other member of its group from time to time together with the Company’s employees who may perform the obligations under these Terms and Conditions.
Customer or you means a person who accepts and agrees to these Terms and Conditions by reading these Terms and Conditions and then clicks on the box to confirm they agree and wish to purchase a ticket.
Fee means the fee set out on the Website as amended from time to time.
Lakes mean all lakes or pools used for swimming, wellbeing or aqua sports at Pool Bridge Farm, YO19 4SQ.
Order means the Customer’s order to purchase an entry ticket to the Lakes through the Website.
Temperature means the temperature of the Lakes as recorded daily by the Company and displayed on the digital thermometer at the sign in desk and entrance to the Monet lake.
Website means the Company’s website www.poolbridge.co.uk
Unless the context otherwise requires, each reference in these Terms and Conditions is a reference to these Terms and Conditions as amended or supplemented from time to time.
Background
The Lakes are managed by the Company. The Customer wishes to enter the Lakes in order to participate in open water swimming or aqua sports. The purpose of these Terms and Conditions is to set out the terms on which the Company offers the Customer and any Child access to the Lakes for the purpose of open water swimming, wellbeing and aqua sports.
Any person accessing the Lakes for any reason must purchase a ticket and by doing so, has agreed with these Terms and Conditions including the Disclaimer on behalf of themself and any Child before accessing the Lakes.
All Customers should ensure they and any Child fully understand the dangers associated with open water swimming and aqua sports including the potential for personal injury, death and property loss.
Customers are reminded that open water swimming and aqua sports in the Lakes are potentially hazardous and that use of the Lakes is at the Customer’s own risk. All attendees, including those purchasing a Bank Ticket, must observe these Terms and Conditions at all times and sign the Disclaimer set out below.
Whilst the Company makes all reasonable efforts to ensure that the descriptions of the Lakes are correct and reasonably accurate, images and video footage of the Lakes are for illustrative purposes only. By proceeding with an Order, the Customer confirms that they are not relying on any representations made by the Company.
BOOKING
By purchasing a ticket, the Customer:
Agrees and accepts to be bound by these Terms and Conditions including the Disclaimer and confirms that each Child is able to satisfy the Entry Conditions; and
Represents to the Company that the Customer has authority to make the Order on behalf of itself and any Child and that the Order is subject to these Terms and Conditions.
No part of the Website constitutes a contractual offer capable of acceptance. The Order constitutes a contractual offer that the Company may, at its sole discretion, accept. The Company’s acknowledgement of receipt of the Order does not mean that it has accepted it. The Company’s acceptance is indicated by it sending the Customer a booking confirmation by email. Only once the Company has sent the Customer a booking confirmation will there be a legally binding contract between the parties.
No person other than a Child will be admitted who has not bought their own ticket and read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
The Company may at its absolute discretion decline an Order.
Upon the Company accepting an Order, payment of the associated Fee must be made by the Customer.
All pre-booked tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The Customer agrees to be legally responsible for any Child and confirms that the Child understands these Terms and Conditions and the Customer therefore accepts these Terms and Conditions on behalf of them self and the Child.
All attendees in the Customer’s group must agree to he terms and conditions before the ticket is purchased on their behalf.
Closure or CHANGES TO THE LAKES
The Company reserves the right to close the whole or any part of the Lakes or suspend the operation of open water swimming or aqua sports at any time for any technical or operational reasons (including staff illness), weather, capacity, special events or to ensure the safety and security of Customers or if the Company reasonably considers that the circumstances so require. If the Lakes are closed for any of the reasons set out above the Company reserves the right to offer substitute tickets for admission to the Lakes on an alternative date in substitution for any other form of redress.
Entry conditions
All persons may access the Lakes subject to the following entry conditions (Entry Conditions):
All persons must have a valid entry ticket and have agreed to and accepted these Terms and Conditions and the Disclaimer. All entry tickets purchased are only valid on the date and time printed on the ticket.
A person should not participate in open water swimming or aqua sports if they have a known medical condition that would render such participation to be potentially unsafe for them. If the person has any medical conditions, they should consult with their own doctor to ascertain if they can take part. If there is any possibility the person might be pregnant, they must not take part.
All persons accept that they have a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure their own safety. All persons in and around the Lakes should behave in a safe manner at all times and must not act in any manner which may disturb other users of the Lakes.
All persons must comply with any reasonable instructions given to them by the Company’s personnel or any third party instructed on behalf of the Company. If a Customer disregards such instructions then the Company reserves the right to remove them from the Lakes, without any right to a refund.
A person must not enter the Lakes if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
All persons must enter and exit the Lakes at the specified entry/exit points.
No person is permitted to dive or jump into the Lakes from the bank side.
All persons must be confident in the water and able to swim 50m unaided or in a lifejacket when under close supervision or an appropriate adult.
Any person who is an inexperienced cold water swimmer, should not attend alone and must complete their own research on safe swimming practices before swimming in the Lakes.
Children up to the age of 17 years must be accompanied in the Lakes by a competent swimmer over the age of 18 (Adult) at all times. Non-swimmers must have a ratio of one child to one Adult. Swimmers under the age of 11 must have a maximum ratio of 2 children to one adult and those swimmers aged 12-15 3 children to one adult. The Adult must stay within 3 metres of the child at all times.
Customers aged 16 to 18 should be accompanied in the Lakes by an Adult and be within direct sight of an Adult at the edge of the Lakes at all times. With a maximum 3:1 ratio of child to adult.
A person below the age of 18 years will only be able to use the Lakes with parental consent and are not permitted to enter the Lakes between 1 November and 31 March inclusive or when the temperature falls below 12 degrees.
A person must not cause any damage or disturbance to the wildlife or flora and fauna surrounding or in the Lakes.
All persons may only use eco safe sun cream whilst in or around the Lakes.
All persons accept that no dogs are allowed at Pool Bridge farm, except assistance dogs.
Access to any other Lake used for different purposes is not permitted.
The Company will show the Temperature at the sign in hut and at the entrance to the monet lake and it is the responsibility of the Customer to check the Temperature before entering the Lakes.
The Customer understands and accepts that the water quality is tested regularly by the Company but may change due to weather conditions or other factors.
The Customers understands and accepts that there are no lifeguards at the Lakes but that life buoys and throw ropes are around the Lakes and there are exit points at frequent intervals on the edge of the Lakes.
If a Customer does not comply with these Terms and Conditions or they fail to agree to these Terms and Conditions they will not be permitted access to the Lakes or may be removed from the Lakes, without any right to a refund.
Photography
The Customer grants the Company permission to use any photograph of you at the Lakes (Photograph) for the purpose of marketing the activities we offer at the Lakes (Permitted Purpose).
Customers agree that no photography of other customers without prior consent should be taken. Anyone in breach of this condition will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
You agree to the Company storing copies of the Photograph for as long as necessary to fulfil the Permitted Purpose and storing your contact details on our database in case it we need to contact you.
You can withdraw your consent given in clause 7 of these Terms and Conditions at any time by contacting us via the Website. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent.
For data protection purposes we are the controller of (and responsible for) the personal data comprising the Photograph and your contact details.
We will:
ensure that we comply with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of the Photograph and your contact details; and
Process the Photograph and your contact details in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Complaints
The Company always welcome feedback from its customers and whilst it always uses all reasonable endeavours to ensure that a customer’s experience is a positive one, the Company nevertheless wants to hear from any customer if they have any cause for complaint. General
The Company reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice as required by law or necessity.
If any provision or part-provision of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal and enforceable.
These terms are governed by English law and wherever you live you can bring claims against the Company in the English courts. If you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims against the Company in the courts of the country you live in. The Company can claim against you in the courts of the country you live in.
Disclaimer
Open water swimming and aqua sports are physically challenging and carry with them risks that the Company cannot entirely eliminate. These include the risk of personal injury, such as cuts, bruises, gastrointestinal illnesses, or stomach bugs, which may cause diarrhoea and/or vomiting, as well as respiratory, skin, ear and eye infections and drowning.
The Customer confirms that it and any Child under their supervision must comply with all Entry Conditions as set out in clause 5 of the Terms and Conditions provided with this Disclaimer.
Neither the Company nor its employees nor directors are qualified to express an opinion that any person is fit to safely participate in open water swimming or aqua sports. The Customer must obtain professional or specialist advice from their doctor before participating.
In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by the Company:
participation in open water swimming and aqua sports at the Lakes is entirely at the Customer’s or Child’s own risk; and
the Company is not responsible for any theft, damage, destruction or loss of a Customer’s or Child’s property or belongings whilst participating in open water swimming or aqua sports at the Lakes, or utilising the Company’s facilities in or around the Lakes.
The Company is responsible for losses the Customer and any Child suffers caused by the Company breaching these Terms and Conditions unless the loss is:
Personal injury: to the extent excluded pursuant to paragraph 4 above.
Theft, damage destruction or loss of property: to the extent excluded pursuant to paragraph 4 above.
Unexpected. It was not obvious that it would happen and nothing you said to the Company before it accepted your Order meant it should have expected it (so, in the law, the loss was unforeseeable).
Caused by an event outside our control. If access to the Lakes is not permitted or delayed by an event outside the Company’s control as set out in clause 4 of the Terms and Conditions. The Company will contact the Customer as soon as possible to let you know and will do what it can to reduce the delay. As long as the Company does this, it will not compensate you.
Avoidable. Something the Customer could have avoided by taking reasonable action, including following the Entry Conditions.
A business loss. The Company will not be liable for any loss the Customer suffers in connection with its trade, business, craft or profession.
